Reported: A candidate aced the video interview, cleared the background check, and deployed malware on day one

According to a law firm's documentation, a deepfake candidate successfully passed a video interview and background check using stolen identity documents, gaining system access on their first day and deploying malware.

A national law firm, Jones Walker, documented a scenario where a job candidate, appearing legitimate with a polished resume and credible video interview, passed screening and background checks. The identity documents used were real but stolen, indicating the fraud occurred at the identity and credential layer. On their first day, the fraudulent hire used their system access to deploy malware.
