How to Create an Indian English AI Voice Clone

We have been technical on the last few topics. Voice cloning has been the rage across multiple content creations, saving you time and effort when creating various projects. Although AI voice cloning has been widely adopted globally, there has been a lack of focus on developing voice clones that mimic native accents.

One accent, in particular, holds a significant gap considering the sheer size of their population and the growing demand for content creation in regional languages. Can you guess it? That’s right, we’re referring to Indian accents.

This blog will discuss the process of creating an Indian AI voice clone using Resemble AI voice clone technology. This leading voice cloning platform has been at the forefront of innovations in the industry. But before we jump into the fun, what can we do to understand the nuances?

Nuances of the Indian Accent

To imitate an Indian accent, you need to replicate the unique phonetic characteristics of Indian English, which are influenced by languages like Hindi, Tamil, and others.

Utilizing online resources or interacting with native speakers can help hone this ability. Additionally, understanding the distinct intonation patterns, rhythm, and cadence of Indian speech can give you a better output.

Now, on to the fun part.

Step 1: Sign Up for Resemble.ai

If you have not done so, you’ll need to create an account on Resemble.ai. The platform offers various pricing plans that will suit everyone’s needs. A free tier is also available for you to experiment with voice cloning.

To register, simply click on the “Sign Up” button and fill out your details. You must use a valid email address, as your notifications will be sent when you generate professional AI voices. Fill in your details and create your account. Then you’re all set.

Step 2: Access the Voice Cloning Dashboard

Once you’ve signed up and logged in, you’ll be taken to the Resemble.ai dashboard.

Here, you can manage your projects and start creating your voice clone. There are 2 ways to start. One way is to navigate to the “Projects” section and click on “New Project” to create a new voice cloning project.

The other is to head to Voices to start recording your voice. Then click on New Voice to begin.

Step 3: Record or Upload Audio Samples

To create a voice clone, you’ll need to provide audio samples of the voice you want to clone. For an Indian English voice clone, you can either record your voice or upload existing audio files.

It is suggested that you use the Professional Voice Clone option for this to ensure you maximize the features and voices available.

Click on “Record on the web” to record your voice directly using your microphone. Keep in mind that in order for you to produce the best output, you must do your recordings in a quiet place to avoid background noises.

This option will ask you to record 25 different statements straight from your browser.

Alternatively, if you have ready pre-recorded audio, click “Upload and Audio Sample” to upload pre-recorded audio files.

Tips for Recording Audio

  • Use a high-quality microphone to ensure clear audio.
  • Record in a quiet environment to avoid background noise.
  • Speak naturally and clearly, covering various intonations and emotions.

Step 4: Train the AI Model

Once you’ve provided sufficient audio samples, Resemble.ai will train the AI model to clone the voice. This process can take some time, depending on the length and quality of the audio samples. On the dashboard, you will see something like this:.

Click on “Enhance Voice” to start the training process. You will be asked to record a few more audio samples or re-record the first recordings you have done to make it more natural, more you.

Wait for the enhancement to be completed. Once the model is ready, you’ll be notified via the email you used to register.

Step 5: Test and Refine the Voice Clone

After training the model, you can test the voice clone by generating speech from text inputs. This allows you to evaluate the quality of the cloned voice and make any necessary adjustments.

  1. Go to the “Text-to-Speech” section.
  2. Enter the text you want the AI to speak in the cloned voice.
  3. Click on “Generate” to create the audio.
  4. Listen to the generated audio and note any areas that need improvement.

If the voice clone doesn’t meet your expectations, you can refine it by providing additional audio samples or tweaking the settings. Do this step as many times as you can.

Step 6: Using the Voice Clone

Once you’re satisfied with the voice clone, you can integrate it into your applications. Resemble.ai provides a cloud-based app, so you do not have to worry about installing it on your computer. For easy integration into various platforms, such as websites, mobile apps, and customer service systems.
