Watermarking now supports two kinds of mark. Implicit watermarks are invisible, as before. Explicit watermarks carry a custom message you embed.

The difference is what the mark holds. An implicit mark is machine-readable only, while an explicit one carries a payload that can be decoded. You choose which fits the job.

Detection of the implicit marks measures around 99.9% accuracy across audio, image, and video.
